Edit a quote before acceptance
Save changes privately, review the updated offer, and publish it to your customer’s existing link.
5 min readEdit a quote before acceptance
For an eligible unanswered quote, Edit quote starts private changes. You need quote editing access; publishing also needs the appropriate access.
- Open the quote and check its latest status. Select Edit quote. If changes already exist, use Continue editing to find the pending version and open its draft.
- Review the recipient, services, quantities, prices, billing schedules, terms, and attached agreements. Check optional services and their default selections as well as their prices.
- Complete the review and select Save changes. Reopen the pending version and verify the saved details and Unpublished changes notice.
Publish reviewed changes
Publishing does not reactivate a revoked public link. Expire, Void, and Revoke public link remain separate controls while edits are pending; read their confirmations carefully.
If a customer has an older approval page open when the offer changes, they must reload and review the current offer before accepting. If the quote was accepted, expired, or voided while you were editing, refresh its status instead of trying to overwrite that outcome.
- Open the saved pending version and compare the services, totals, terms, and agreements with the offer you intend to publish.
- Select Publish changes and read the confirmation. Confirm only when the updated offer is ready for the customer.
- Reopen the quote and check that the updated version is published. The existing approval link uses that version; no new email is sent by publishing changes.
Delete an unpublished draft
Deletion is permanent and requires quote editing access. Published, accepted, closed, and delivery-started versions cannot be deleted. Cancel closes the confirmation without deleting anything.
If deletion cannot be confirmed, reopen the quote and check its revision history before trying again. If another session changed the draft, review the latest saved version before deleting it.
- Open the quote and choose the draft in Revision history. For an unanswered quote with private changes, Continue editing also selects the pending draft.
- Select Delete draft. Read the confirmation to check which quote or revision will be removed, then confirm Delete draft.
- For an unpublished replacement, the quote returns to its published version. Its approval link and earlier revisions stay unchanged, and you can use Edit quote to start new changes. Deleting a quote that has never been published removes the entire draft and returns you to the quote list.
Recover from a save or publishing problem
- Another session changed the draft: use Copy my local changes before Reload saved version, then compare and reapply only the changes you still need.
- An autosave could not be confirmed: keep your local changes and use Retry when offered. If a conflict appears, copy the local changes before reloading the saved version.
- A quote save or publication could not be confirmed: keep your local changes, reopen the quote, and check its saved version and status before retrying.
- The review lists unfinished items: follow the specific guidance for the recipient, service, billing schedule, or attached agreement. Attach at least one agreement; use the offered return or settings action to correct the item, then review again.
- An optional service does not look right after reopening: check its optional selection, price, and billing schedule before saving or publishing.
